Ahli Fiqir

Ahli Fiqir is a famous musically adventurous young hip-hop musical group from Singapore. The group adopting an attention-grabbing new approach to presenting its brand of hip-hop. Its a mixture of Malay pantun rhyming and modern beats. The group consist of vocalist Dayat or Mawar Berduri (Noor Hidayati Mohamed Yusop), vocalist Daly (Fadali Mohd Darif), vocalist Samsol (Samsolnahar Sibengat), and turntablist Ceza Mutyara.

All of them are Singaporean, except Cza who came from Medan, Indonesia. Ahli Fiqir hit the scene late 2004 when its track Samseng (leaked to radio stations as an album teaser) started receiving heavy rotation on ERA FM & X-fresh FM in Malaysia, Ria FM in Singapore and Indonesia’s Kiss FM.

They won the Singapore's Best Album in the Anugerah Planet Muzik 2006 through their song Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah. Despite its predominantly Singaporean line-up, Ahli Fiqir prefers to be seen as a South East Asian group and is keen to stress its connection with the rest of the region. “We are a merger of three countries – Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia – so we don’t really want to make comparisons with any countries,” said Samsol in an interview.
